‘Turnaround time’ is a phrase that has put the perspective into 2011. Two weeks ago I received mail from an old school friend Josh Feder who proposed a video idea to Leila’s Tale. He said give them a week or so and they’ll have the video. Sure enough in my inbox I received a beautifully created piece of art directed by Josh and his creative partner Saul Abraham.

Poetry & Science-Fiction was released through Plug Research on October 4th, 2011. Astrobal – the producer who does side gigs as a drummer for French artists Arnaud Fleurent-Didier and the band Holden, explains the project: “I named the project Poetry & Science-Fiction because I see my music as a mix between fiction and true reality, between space and everyday life, relationship and imagination, between François Truffaut & Philip K. Dick.”

As the name hints at, Danish band Quadron are of mixed ancestry – producer Robin Hannibal has an African-American grandfather who migrated to Denmark, while singer Coco Karshøj has an African grandfather. This cultural hodepodge is at the forefront of the group’s music, and Quadron mixes a blend of electronic balladry and alternative soul that recalls UK producer Matthew Herbert’s work with Dani Siciliano (see 2000’s Bodily Fluids), the Swedish pop group Little Dragon and the German chanteuse Clara Hill.
